Density maps of trees across the globe for the year 2016. Tree density maps are used in environmental sciences to monitor deforestation and illegal logging, as well as assess the amount of vegetal photosynthesis.
The data consists of tree counts recorded by NASA’s Aqua and Terra satellites. The resolution of the raw data is approximately 1.5° × 1.5°.
